Walter D. Thomas

Walter D. Thomas, 69 died Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at his residence. He was a native of Louisville, Ga. and lived in Savannah most of his life. He was retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad after 30 years of service and was a member of the the Alee Shriners Oriental Band. He was a veteran having served in the United States Navy and was a volunteer with Civil Defense.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Steve Fairbanks, of Savannah, his two grandchildren, Alex and Mary Allison Fairbanks, of Savannah, his mother, Lucille B. Thomas, of Savannah, and two sisters, Joan Schmidt, of Savannah, and Rosalyn Hackney, of Perry, GA. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday, July 7, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 8, 2006 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery on Dean Forest Road.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that remembrances be made to the Eric Tzen Medical Fund, c/o New Life Worship Center, 16252 Hwy 144 East, Richmond Hill, GA 31324.
